Why Do I write?
Welcome! I'm so glad you decided to find out more about my books. I have tried to create books with these goals in mind.
- Books that kids will want to pick up and read, I wanted to write books with lots of exciting adventures that kids can get into and enjoy.
- Books that leave kids (and adults) encouraged about life.
- Stories that don't talk down to kids, but rather encourage them to find out what larger vocabulary words mean. The best way to teach kids big words is to expose them to them in a context where they can figure it out for themselves, or say "Hey. Mom, what does this mean?"
- Books families can read together. Yes, there are some deep ideas in my books, and some intense moments. I hope that families can read and discuss these books together, even though they are fine for individual reading as well!
- Books that bring people closer to God and each other. My "Toby the Trilby" series is allegorical and has a direct Christian message. While the "Three Royal Children" series is not directly Christian, it has great messages about friendship, family and virtues like loyalty and honesty scattered throughout, without being too heavy-hitting.
Who Am I?
I'm Texas born and raised, and live in the small town of Bastrop, Texas. I have a wonderful husband, Jacob, and four children, Judah, Levi, Celise, and Tyrel. We homeschool.
I studied at Christ for the Nations in Dallas Texas, and I've been published in lots of magazines. I currently have over 18 books, including clean fiction for adults, available on Amazon.com at my author page. https://amzn.to/2J8iKcM
My favorite things to do (besides write) are thrift-store shopping, singing, and walking in the woods. Preferably with my kids.
