To celebrate ALMOST hitting 50% on my Kickstarter for Little Narwhal's Day, (you can find it here,) I wanted to share one of the beautiful coloring pages that will be available in the companion activity book I'm working on. This is Little Narwhal and his best friend, Little Beluga.

So here it is, along with a FREE ocean word find! Feel free to print as many as you'd like. And please share the completed masterpieces on my Facebook page here.

If I get at least 10 pictures shared, I'll have a contest for a FREE activity book! How about that?

To print the picture, just click the file below and open it. Right click the image to print it. Easy peasy!

Never Let a Princess Paint with her Unicorn!

If your daughter is like mine, chances are unicorns play a BIG part in her life right now. But it's important to know, you should NEVER let a princess paint with her unicorn! At least, according to this book.
The princess wants to paint. And since she and her unicorn do everything together, of course she wants her horned friend to join her. Despite warnings to the contrary, she gives in, and soon her room is a spattered mess. But then something magical happens.
Never Let a Princess Paint with her Unicorn is a beautiful, interesting story from Diane Alber, the writer/illustrator of the Amazon best-selling I'm Not Just a Scribble and Never Let a Unicorn Scribble. This is the first book my daughter and I have read together by her but it certainly won't be our last.

Time for a Nature Hike!

If you've read any of my books for kids, and well, pretty much any of my books, you're going to find at least one hike or walk in the woods in there somewhere. This is because I grew up in the woods, and I still love to take my kids to the park or hiking several times a week.
Here are some tips to make your next hike a success.

Find a New Place to Explore
Tired of the same old trees? Find new parks and hiking trails in your area. A great site to check is All Trails at  https://www.alltrails.com/. Or search for a park at Find A Park with  https://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm.
Gear Up
Take plenty of water, snacks, and a small bag for treasures like cool feathers and leaves. (check with each park to make sure it's okay to take small treasures). Dress in layers so if the weather changes you don't have to go all the way back to the car for your sweater! Make sure you have a cell phone in case of emergency and so you can take pictures of unusual creatures to identify when you get home.
Watch for Seasonal Treasures
Every season brings new treasures to find, so keep your eyes open! Watch for bird's nests, wildflowers and berries in the spring, gorgeous leaves and fallen nuts in the fall, lovely frost patterns and frozen ponds in the winter, and mushrooms after it rains.

Get Crafty
Bring home a little bag of your findings and create a nature journal with drawings and notes. Or create a nature collage of beautiful leaves. OR paint your rocks or sticks and add a pair of googly eyes to make a new friend!

What's your favorite park or hiking trail? Let me know in the comments!
